.FORECAST UPDATE...
Issued at 854 AM EDT Mon Apr 20 2026

Clear skies for central Indiana this morning, which will help to
warm the whole area into the mid 50s to low 60s this afternoon.
Winds will remain light through the day but shift to be out of the
south. Minimal adjustments were needed for the forecast but did
better match temperatures and skies to current conditions. Also
bumped the winds up slightly as they will likely be most so around 5
mph rather than near calm as the day goes on.

.DISCUSSION (Today through Sunday)...
Issued at 227 AM EDT Mon Apr 20 2026

Early This Morning...

Clouds lingering across the far southern forecast area may lower the
odds of frost, with the clouds keeping temperatures up. However,
with some decrease expected, can`t rule out some patchy frost still
forming near sunrise. Will let the Frost Advisory ride as is.

Today through Tuesday...

Surface high pressure will build into the area. Subsidence will keep
skies sunny to mostly sunny, with perhaps some passing high clouds.
Winds will be light with the high nearby. Temperatures will top out
in the middle 50s to lower 60s.

Tonight, upper heights will rise some with an upper trough
continuing to exit east of the area. The high will move off to the
east, allowing light southeast winds. These will help bring warmer
temperatures, with lows from around 40 to the mid 40s.

Warm advection will kick in on Tuesday, bringing a return to above
normal temperatures in the middle 70s.

Tuesday night into Thursday...

A cold front will attempt to move into central Indiana as an upper
wave moves through. Moisture doesn`t look great with most of the
Gulf cut off by high pressure. Will bring some slight chance to
chance category PoPs in Tuesday night and linger them into Wednesday
as the front lingers. Highs will be in the 70s.

Upper ridging will briefly build in for Thursday, providing dry and
warmer conditions. Highs will be around 80.

Friday and beyond...

An upper trough across central portions of the country will eject
impulses at times and keep chances for rain across the area Friday
into early next week. At the moment, the best chances for rain look
to be around Friday with a cold front. Uncertainty is relatively
high after that on any specifics of PoPs or timing with differing
solutions in how the upper impulses will move through.

Temperatures look to remain near normal to above normal, but those
will depend on coverage and timing of any rain, as well as if any
colder air gets pulled down from the north.

.AVIATION (12Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 632 AM EDT Mon Apr 20 2026

Impacts:

- Fog early at KLAF

Discussion:

Some ground fog at KLAF may briefly drop conditions to IFR or lower
very early in the period. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected.
Mid level clouds will exit KBMG early in the period. Otherwise,
mainly few to scattered high clouds will be around.

With surface high pressure building in, winds will be light through
much of the period. Variable direction will become southeast this
evening.
